Adhesive Converting System
Project Description
A Midwest based industrial adhesives and sealants distributor required a new application that would increase production efficiency, improve product consistency and reduce waste of applying various adhesives to various types of mediums. A key requirement was to automate the process and reduce operator handling.
The functionality of the current system required the extrusion of adhesive which was applied to a backing medium. Then a type of secondary backing material was applied depending on the product specifications and the final product was measured and cut to length of the exact spool sizes requested. The existing equipment had various unmanageable characteristics, so we first completed a detail system analysis and identified each of problem areas thereby focusing its redesign efforts on the development of a functional, yet flexibility system.
Project Results
Millerbernd designed and built a system to accommodate the customer's diverse product line using a series of vacuum conveyors with adjustable drives, belts, pumps, cutters and rollers so that the operator could quickly modify the equipment for the various adhesive materials and mediums in correlation to product output requirements.
We also provided complete installation and start up including one-on-one operational training and an operations manual.
