Quality Standards & Ratings
In addition to Underwriters Laboratories' wet location listing, all of Millerbernd's Food Area and Underpass fixtures are IP66 rated. The "IP" stands for ingress protection while the "66" means that a fixture is dust tight and protected against heavy seas and strong jets of water. The IP66 rating is comparable to the NEMA 4 and 4X.     Project Overview: Millerbernd was approached by several commercial clients about the intense environmental requirements for lighting in food zone areas. Lighting is exposed to high pressure washes and cleaning chemicals. Sanitation is always a primary requirement. A solution was needed with would meet UL IP66 ratings as well as UL EPH sanitation rating to ensure complience with NSF 2 criteria. Project Solution: We designed and fabricated high performance stainless steel sealed enclosures that protects its components from powerful water-jet cleaning and elements associated with its surrounding environment including:
Developed in two sizes, the ML-14 and ML-24 Food Zone Lighting Fixtures meet the stringent UL wet and hose down IP66 rating while still providing easy installation and access to its electrical components. In addition, its high level construction, earned the ML-14/24 an UL EPH sanitation rating making it compliant with NSF 2 criteria. Project Result: By effectively separating its internal components from the surrounding environment, the ML-14/24 not only protects the light fixture but also protects the environment from heat, sparking, arcing, dirt, dust, moisture, contaminants, air pressure equalization and other conditions that may adversely affect processes or safety in a specific area. This hi-tech corrosive resistant fixture is ideal for fluorescent lighting applications in food processing, wet locations, high abuse areas, cleanrooms, operating rooms, and containment areas. |
